John E. Koch
COLUMBUS GROVE – John E. Koch, 66, of Columbus Grove died 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 24, 2021 at Mercy Health Putnam County Ambulatory Care Center. He was born April 29, 1955 in Lima to Edward A. and Juliana (Mittlekamp) Koch. He father preceded him in death and his mother survives in Columbus Grove. On April 30, 1977 he married Mary Kay Niese, who survives in Columbus Grove.
Also surviving are 4 children: Brian (Jessica) Koch of Westerville, Michelle Koch of Worthington, Kyle (Natalia) Koch of Raleigh, NC and Amanda (Jacob) Bremer of Cincinnati; 3 grandchildren: Simon, Lydia and Theodore; and 3 sisters: Carol Maruhnich of Ottawa, Patricia (Ed) Birnesser of Columbus Grove and Mary Kay (Dan) Verhoff of Columbus Grove.
John retired from Hoyts Tavern, Kalida and was a lifelong member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Columbus Grove. He was a track official for many years and a former basketball coach for Columbus Grove.
The funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 31, 2021 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with Father David Ritchie officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass and a rosary service will begin at 9:00 a.m. at church.
