COLUMBUS GROVE - Lenna Kay Foulkes, 83, of Columbus Grove died 3:35 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima. She was born June 15, 1940 to the late Minor and Nellie (Colabuono) King. On April 11, 1958 she married Donald F. Windle, who passed away on January 15, 1991. She later married William Foulkes on April 25, 1997 and he survives in Columbus Grove.
Kay is also survived by 3 children: Jeff (Iris) Windle of Centerville, IN, Kim (Mike) Verhoff and Kris (Bryan) Malsam, both of Columbus Grove; 4 grandchildren: Devin (Mackenzie) Verhoff, Megan (Logan Alexander) Verhoff, Lindsey (Grant) Schroeder and Logan Malsam; 2 great-grandchildren: Brooks and Baylor Verhoff, with 1 on the way; and a niece: Cathy (John) Holdgreve.
She is preceded in death by 2 sisters: Geraldine Cash and Mary Jane Sroufe; 3 brothers: Robert King, Gene King and Floyd Wilson; and 2 nieces: Susan Cox and Nancy Gilbert.
Kay grew up in Lima where she attended Lima South, but she spent a lot of her childhood at Indian Lake with her nieces. She fondly recalled as a teenager getting ready in her finest attire and heels to go dancing with her older sisters. She also loved Elvis Presley and was fortunate to attend one of his concerts. Kay often shared treasured memories of her adventurous travels.
Later in life, she remarried and moved out to the country where she grew to love and appreciate the farm and summer sunsets from her patio. A member of Westside United Methodist Church, her faith was strong, carrying her through life’s hardships. She had a sweet tooth that was only matched by her never ending, contagious smile.
Known for her sweet, loving and soft demeanor, she resonated warmth, love and light, and was the epitome of a loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. To know her was to love her and she will be remembered by her term of endearment and sweet farewell, “Kissy Poo Poo.”
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 8, 2024 at the HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Columbus Grove with Rev. Bill Cronk officiating. Burial will follow in Pike Run Cemetery, Gomer.
